The Golden Ticket Raffle winners for the six fabulous packages of the grown-up version of Willy Wonka’s famed prize opportunity were selected during a Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada’s (JASN) Facebook Live event. Drawn first, the names of the three Golden Ticket winners were Ed Cebulko, Mary Prado, and Larry Cohn. The Silver Ticket recipient names followed and were Bernie Bourekas, Marti Winer, and Chelsea Nork.
“We’re excited for all the lucky winners, especially given the amazing prize packages we assembled,” said Will Abbott, JASN director of development, “More than the typical raffle, the Golden Ticket Raffle has been a fun way for us to raise money and awareness for the important financial education that our staff and volunteers provide for local youth. It also has been a great ‘friendraiser,’ allowing us to reach even more people in the community. Lastly, we are fortunate to have so many generous companies and supporters who donated the wonderful items that made the prize packages so unique and robust.”
The six packages were valued at more than $24,000. Ticket sales raised needed funds to support the nonprofit organization’s valuable financial education, workforce development and entrepreneurship programs for local K-12 students. Golden Tickets were $100 each for packages with a value of at least $5,000, and Silver Tickets were $25 each with a value of at least $1,000.
All the winners were thrilled with their ticket selection and happy to help Junior Achievement at the same time. Winer and Nork summed up their reactions best.
“I am super excited that I got to support Junior Achievement,” said Winer. “I never win anything but feel like winning this raffle and also attending JA’s Swimming with the Big Fish luncheon with the student business product competition were two prizes for me.”
Nork said, “This is awesome! I can’t wait for next year’s Golden Ticket Raffle.”
Abbott conducted the drawing. Winners selected their packages in the order their names were drawn.
