The president’s State of the College Address to focus on academic excellence
College of Southern Nevada President Dr. Federico Zaragoza kicks off the new academic year on Monday, August 22, with the annual State of the College Address and Convocation festivities.
Zaragoza will address how the state’s largest higher education institution has persevered through the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenges still ahead, and the importance of maintaining rigorous academic standards in a challenging environment while striving for continuous improvement.
Nevada System of Higher Education officials are expected to attend, as are distinguished students and college faculty.
In addition to Zaragoza’s address, the event will feature a panel of college accreditation experts, an address by student government President Yvette Machado, and the presentation of awards to outstanding and distinguished faculty and staff.
The annual Convocation & Welcome Back event is a tradition at CSN and serves as a transition into the new academic year. Classes start August 29.
