LAS VEGAS – Daniel Mathis, CEO of PureCare Living, a Las Vegas-based health care management company, announced the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics will lead medical services and programs for Southern Nevada’s newest pediatric skilled nursing facility, Silver State Pediatric.
In addition to helping build care at Silver State Pediatric, UNLV Medicine operates a full-service pediatric clinic with 15 physicians in more than seven pediatric specialties at 1524 Pinto Lane, Las Vegas. This will be the first time UNLV’s Department of Pediatrics will lead a facility focused on pediatric pulmonology.
Currently under construction near the Las Vegas Medical District, Silver State Pediatric is a 22,442-square-foot skilled nursing facility that will specialize in pulmonary and post-acute care for children with traumatic injuries as well as cognitive and physical disabilities.
UNLV Associate Professor and Pediatric Pulmonologist, Dr. David Parks, MD will serve as Silver State Pediatric’s medical director and provider overseeing patient services as well as student clinicals and residencies. Dr. Parks graduated from Harvard University in 1972 and attended University of Florida College of Medicine before serving and practicing in the United States Navy.
“It is a tremendous honor to have UNLV’s revered pediatric medical providers leading the healthcare services at Silver State Pediatric,” said Mathis. “Our team is passionate about elevating pediatric healthcare in Southern Nevada so families do not have to leave the state for their child to receive the specialized care they need.”
Mathis and UNLV’s pediatric department will begin collaborating and developing a variety of programs designed to provide the Southern Nevada community with exceptional pediatric healthcare. The facility’s team of experts will include physicians, registered nurses, physical therapists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and pulmonology therapists.
“Silver State Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility is an important and welcome addition to pediatric healthcare in Southern Nevada,” said Dr. Evelyn Montalvo Stanton, M.D., FAAP, FCCP, chair of UNLV’s pediatric department.
Silver State Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility is located at 2496 West Charleston Boulevard and is funded through Insight Investment Partners, a commercial real estate investment and management firm.
