City National Bank Becomes a Founding Partner of T-Mobile Arena
T-Mobile Arena and the MGM Grand Arena have reached a multi-year agreement with City National Bank to establish the bank as a founding partner for the venue. City National has been named the exclusive financial services partner for both T-Mobile and MGM Grand Garden arenas and will have a large-scale branding presence across both venues.
UNR Receives $11 Million Grant for Cardiovascular Disease
The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) has been awarded an $11 million, five-year grant through the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence, a program of the National Institute of Health. The grant will fund a new interdisciplinary research center being developed at UNR. The center will focus on understanding the molecular and cellular signals that regulate the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and over half of American adults have one form of cardiovascular disease or another.
GOED Awards Small Business Grants for International Expansion
The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) has awarded $30,000 in federal grant money to five small businesses. The grants are earmarked to help the Nevada-based businesses reach new markets around the world. They are funded through the Small Business Administration’s State Trade Expansion Program. The five businesses are expected to generate over $650,000 in foreign sales.
Walmart Expects to Spend $16.3 Million in Nevada on Store Improvements
Walmart has announced the company will spend an estimated $16.3 million on new technologies and upgrades to stores throughout Nevada. The improvements will include two Northern Nevada store remodels, the addition of grocery pickup and deliver to several stores as well as new equipment to 15 stores throughout the state. Walmart employs 14,207 people in Nevada and will spend $106.7 million with Nevada suppliers this year.
