Las Vegas, Nev.—The Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Medicine has announced Rita Vaswani as the newly appointed Chairman for the University’s campaign for the COM Breakthrough in Medicine! campaign. In this prestigious role, Vaswani will support Roseman’s College of Medicine’s mission of educating competent, caring and ethical physicians from diverse backgrounds, conducting biomedical, translational, and clinical research, and providing quality patient-centered care, education and service to our partner communities.
“Having someone of Rita Vaswani’s stature, integrity, and professional accomplishments heading the College of Medicine’s Breakthrough in Medicine campaign is a tremendous asset,” said Roseman University President Dr. Renee Coffman. “She has been a steadfast supporter of the University for over a decade. It’s natural that she would step up to this challenge.”
A 6-year proforma has already identified $84 million toward the College of Medicine, comprised of: clinical revenue, research, university investment, and tuition and fees. Approximately $66 million is still needed in philanthropic funding for the College of Medicine to become accredited. Vaswani will join in leading the philanthropy and community efforts to identify donors and partners, helping to achieve this goal.
“We are pleased to welcome Rita Vaswani to Roseman University,” said Dr. Mark Penn, founding dean of Roseman College of Medicine. “She is committed to advancing our vision to serving the community as a premier, private, MD-granting medical school preparing the next generation of physicians to meet the demands and special needs of today’s patients,” said Penn. “Rita’s first priority is to lead the campaign efforts of raising $66 million for accreditation purposes. Roseman University has raised approximately $12 million in philanthropic donations. We are grateful to The Engelstad Family Foundation who kicked off the campaign with a $10 million donation.”
With more than two decades of banking experience, Vaswani is the Vice President, Client Relationship Manager for Nevada State Bank. She also has a strong background in health care, and focuses on banking relationships primarily serving the state’s health care industry.
Dedicated to volunteerism and her community, Vaswani serves on several medical, non-profit and advocacy boards. Recently recently appointed to Steve Sisolak’s transition advisory committee, she is also the Founder/President of the Nevada Congressional Awards Board and a member of the National Congressional Awards Board. Additionally, Vaswani serves as an executive board member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Nevada, member of the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee, president of the Las Vegas India Chamber of Commerce, member of the Governor’s Economic Development for Nevada-India Business Development Council, and executive board member of the non-profit organization FirstMed Health & Wellness.
