Describe your leadership style:
My style is to educate people of their responsibilities and then step back and let them govern themselves.
Biggest business challenge:
Being able to continue meeting the ever increasing needs of our clients. Regulating agencies are constantly putting increasing demands on the accounting profession, yet most accountants will retire over the next 10 years. This situation is requiring us to become very creative in the way we get our work done.
Best business advice:
Keep your priorities straight. Life is about people not things. Make sure that you are giving time to those who mean the most to you in your life.
How do you retain your best and brightest employees?
By allowing them to be decision makers. People want to know that they are making a difference and I have established an environment that allows my staff to do this.
What do you like best about your job?
The opportunity to educate people. Most people have financial goals and dreams, but they do not know how to reach them. I have the opportunity to guide them and to help them in obtaining what they are looking for. There is nothing quite like seeing someone’s risk and hard work finally pay off.
If you could start over and choose a different profession, what would it be?
Life coach. It is a profession that allows you to have an immediate impact upon the lives of others. I believe that part of our responsibility in this life is to help other people to become better, and a life coach’s main job is just that.
Little known fact about yourself:
I am an Eagle Scout. As an Eagle Scout I feel a great commitment to my community and fellowman. As part of this commitment, I donate my time and resources to various youth groups in hopes of transferring moral values and courage to the youth of today.
