Nevada Graduation Rates On the Rise
According to data compiled by the Nevada Department of Education, the final graduation rate for the Clark County School District’s (CCSD) Class of 2018 was 85.22 percent, a record high and increase of 2 percentage points over 2017. Over the past eight years, CCSD’s has risen from 59.34 percent in 2011. In addition, the Washoe County School District saw a graduation rate of 84 percent in 2018 which represents an increase in 18 percentage points since 2012.
Las Vegas Receives Grant for Downtown Autonomous Project
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and the City of Las Vegas have received a $5.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. The grant will fund the Las Vegas Medical District’s automated circulator and pedestrian safety project entitled GoMed. The project will connect downtown Las Vegas and the Medical District with four autonomous shuttles.
Reno-Sparks Tops List for Job Growth
Reno has ranked on a 24/7 Wall Street list of 381 cities adding the most jobs as the US economy grows. The organization reviewed employment growth for the period of August 2013 to August 2018 using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Reno has seen an 18 percent increase in employment and the state overall has seen seen a 20.6 increase.
