Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president of Nevada State College, will serve as the keynote speaker for the 2022 Women of Distinction Awards (WODA) luncheon event, hosted by the National Association of Women Business Owners Southern Nevada (NAWBO) on Oct. 25, 2022.
WODA honors the achievement of women in business. This year’s luncheon will be held at Conference Center of Las Vegas, 6590 Bermuda Road, in Las Vegas, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Our chapter is excited to have a powerhouse keynote speaker like Dr. Pollard,” said, Sonia Petkewich, NAWBO Southern Nevada chapter president. “Her passion for teaching and sharing knowledge can serve as an inspiration to women in business, philanthropy, public service and other fields.”
Dr. Pollard is the eighth president of Nevada State College and the first permanent Black woman President of the college and any Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution.
She previously held roles at the College of Lake County and served as president of Montgomery and Las Positas colleges. Dr. Pollard’s vision is to advance Nevada State College’s uncompromising focus on high-impact practices, courageous innovation, dignity through equity, and generational impact.
