CCSD Partners with Paper to Provide Academic Support
The Clark County School District has announced a partnership with Paper to provide one-on-one instructional support to approximately 300,000 students in the district, at no charge. Paper is an online program that works with school districts to provide tutors in over 200 subject areas in English, Spanish, French and Mandarin. Tutors are highly trained, and background checked. The partnership is being funded using Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds making it free to students and families.
Adam’s Place and Nevada Donor Network Partner for “Camp Cope”
Adam’s Place and Nevada Donor Network (NDN) have announced a partnership to host “Camp Cope”, a program created to help children and families of organ, eye and tissue donors cope with loss. A virtual program, facilitators will lead members through the grieving process to help them make connections and create healthy coping skills alongside individuals who have shared similar experiences.
Renewable Diesel Plant Launches in Northern Nevada
New Rise Renewables Reno, a renewable diesel plant, has launched in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. One of only a handful of plants of its kind, the operation will produce 44 million gallons per year of renewable diesel made from triglyceride oils from sources such as corn. The project is projected to save nearly 880 million pounds of carbon emissions, the equivalent of removing 88,000 vehicles from the roads. The plant will create 55 full-time jobs at an average wage of $75,000 per year.
Registration Open for AngelNV Entrepreneur Bootcamp
Operated by StartUpNV, a statewide nonprofit incubator and accelerator for Nevada-based startup companies, AngelNV Entrepreneur Bootcamp opened for registration on September 1st. The bootcamp, now in its third year, is a free three-month program for founders and entrepreneurs. It teaches startup founders the fundamentals of attracting venture capital. After completion, participants can apply for AngelNV funding. Sessions begin on October 11.

An independent venture study headquartered in Reno, D4 Media Corp. has been ranked 1,972 (of 5,000) in the annual “Inc. 5000” report. The company is focused on developing products and brands in the outdoor and sports shooting industries. Companies on the 2022 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2018 to 2021 and they must be U.S. based, privately held, for-profit and independent businesses. The minimum revenue required for consideration was $100,000 in 2018 and $2 million in 2021.
Roseman University Partners with StraighterLine to Provide Pathway to Nursing Degree
Roseman University College of Nursing has partnered with StraighterLine, a provider of affordable, online college courses. The partnership is intended to make it easier for students to overcome financial and scheduling constraints to meet academic needs for admission to nursing schools. Students can choose from 30 courses which will transfer seamlessly to Roseman and count as a prerequisite credit.
Vision Zero Initiative Launches in Southern Nevada
An international strategy to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries while increasing safe mobility, Vision Zero is launching in southern Nevada. Northern Nevada’s Vision Zero Truckee Meadows launched in 2018 with the goal of zero fatalities by 2030. The southern Nevada effort is a collaboration between the City of Las Vegas, law enforcement and the Regional Transportation Commission among others. Now collecting input from the public, Vision Zero in Las Vegas hopes to eliminate traffic fatalaties and severe injuries by 2050.
