LAS VEGAS – It may be the summer, but Cactus Park Elementary is gearing up for its inaugural school year in Las Vegas! A groundbreaking and innovative new public charter school located at 3115 Las Vegas Blvd N. in Las Vegas (the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Pecos Road), Cactus Park Elementary will offer students a unique curriculum centered around social identity, academic excellence and civic engagement, including an on-campus farm, food pantry, cactus garden and more.
Cactus Park Elementary is accepting free applications for Kindergarten through fourth grade-aged students for the 2022-23 school year, which will begin in August. Interested parents can find additional information and apply at pilotednevada.org.
“Cactus Park Elementary was founded not only on the idea of educating the young voices of Las Vegas, but with the purpose of providing the tools to develop and enhance the students’ social identities, mental health and community engagement,” said Karli Casto, Founding Principal at Cactus Park Elementary. “The lessons and experiences provided the students will be invaluable in ensuring students are educated in a holistic and whole-child way that doesn’t just distill down education to reading and math but incorporates environmental education, self-care, and mental wellness.”
Set to open its doors in 2022, Cactus Park Elementary aims to revolutionize the idea of what’s possible in public education. From teacher hiring and training to student curriculum and cultural learning, Cactus Park Elementary will be centered around the identities and dreams of the students.
Cactus Park Elementary students will be positioned to thrive, as they’ll have the opportunity to participate in a number of unique classes, clubs and learning concepts, including a highly-rated math & literacy curriculum, social-emotional learning, identity studies, health & wellness enrichment and civic engagement to help empower the young voices of Las Vegas. In addition, the family-centered school will offer enrichment services to the families of the Cactus Park Elementary students, including an on-site food pantry, resource fairs, family fitness days and more.
