The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations has resumed in-person workplace safety training courses at its Las Vegas and Reno offices.
SCATS offers no-cost workplace safety and health training classes for Nevada employees and employers; classes have been offered in online-only formats throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While most courses will now return to in-person, many will continue to be offered online.
“Our training courses are a valuable way to help Nevada employers and employees gain skills to help make their workplaces safer,” said Todd Schultz, Chief Administrative Officer for SCATS. “We’re excited to bring our in-person courses back to help engage participants in their safety education.”
A number of the courses could not be converted to an online format such as the defensive driving course, the instructor development program, fundamentals of accident investigation program and others. SCATS offers them in-person again for the first time since March 2020.
For more information or for a schedule of free training courses offered by SCATS, businesses can call 1-877-4SAFENV or visit 4safenv.state.nv.us. SCATS consultants also provide employers with confidential hazard identification, program development and implementation assistance.
