LAS VEGAS, NV – Southern Nevada Senior Law Program (SNSLP), celebrating its 10th year as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides free, quality legal services to residents of Southern Nevada aged 60 years and older and is proud to support Older Americans Month throughout the month of May. In observance of this special month, SNSLP will perform additional actions to bring attention to the month and educate individuals about the services SNSLP provides to seniors. Throughout May, the organization will share information about Older Americans Month through social media posts and interactions with clients and referral sources.
Every year for the month of May, the Administration for Community Living (acl.gov) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month. According to its website, “All people, regardless of age or disability, should be able to live independently and participate fully in their communities. Every person should have the right to make choices and to control the decisions in and about their lives.” SNSLP shares these core values, and recognizes that many in the senior population are in need of quality legal services, in many instances, to remain independent and live their full lives. Some of the most common issues seniors face are evictions, financial exploitation, scams and frauds, and the need for healthcare powers of attorney. SNSLP’s attorneys assist seniors with these and other legal services.
“Older Americans Month will be celebrated by the entire SNSLP team, including those within our office and the attorney volunteers who help make our work possible,” said Diane Fearon, Executive Director of Southern Nevada Senior Law Project. “It represents another opportunity to connect with our audiences and expand awareness of the services that are available to our senior community.”
