General Contractor Reaffirms Commitment to Broader Approach and Added Value by Expanding Services
LAS VEGAS – McCarthy Building Companies Inc., one of the nation’s oldest and largest privately held construction firms, has promoted industry veteran Mark Mohning, DBIA, AIA, to vice president of integrated design delivery for its Las Vegas office. With a company-wide focus on expanding the services provided to clients, Mohning brings a plethora of knowledge and nearly two decades of diverse qualifications from both owner’s representation and commercial architecture to his new role.
“We are proud to be able to offer our clients more than just preconstruction and construction services by focusing on adding value throughout the entire project life-cycle. Mark plays a pivotal role in this shift,” said Ross Edwards, senior vice president, McCarthy Building Companies. “Our clients, particularly in Las Vegas, have taken notice of our broader approach and recognize the long-term benefits. Our ability to collaborate early on a project is only furthered by the highest demand this market has ever experienced for design-build services.”
As vice president, Mohning will bring his unique perspective to every project and will guide McCarthy’s growing Integrated Design team. His team’s expertise and involvement in all phases from inception to project turn over and operation will help empower clients with the information they need to make the most informed decisions for the design, schedule, and life cycle of a project.
Since joining McCarthy three years ago as Director of Design Integration, Mohning has expertly woven his background as both a registered architect in the State of Nevada and as an owner’s representative to elevate McCarthy’s preconstruction services and led its design-build teams on a myriad of projects including Garage Mahal, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department Convention Center Area Command Expansion, UNLV Tropicana Parking Garage Expansion, and most notably, the Dream Las Vegas Hotel, the first ground-up design build resort on the Strip.
Prior to joining McCarthy, Mohning served for four years as the owner’s representative for Station Casinos’ design and construction group where he oversaw projects from conception through construction completion including the $690 million remodel of the Palms Casino Resort where he served as project manager for the majority of the low-rise and the sprawling casino.
Mohning has a track record of success and a commercial portfolio with vast experience in large- and small-scale hospitality, healthcare, gaming, high rise residential, entertainment, restaurant, education, justice facilities, corporate headquarters, and public works from previously working with KGA Architecture for a decade.
His education, professional background, and ability to build genuine relationships with owners and project partners throughout all project phases has differentiated McCarthy’s approach to project delivery, resulting in best practices that can be shared and reciprocated across the company.
“In this new capacity, I’m not only looking forward to furthering McCarthy’s capabilities in the integrated design space but also in bringing our clients increased value and collaboration and developing long-term partnerships and relationships,” said Mohning.
