Local Businesses Partner with Project 150 to Launch After School Program, ‘A Fighting Chance,’ for Homeless, Displaced and Disadvantaged High School Students

Las Vegas – ProAm Sports Medicine, a Las Vegas-based, leading medical provider for athletes at all levels, announces the launch of an after-school program, A Fighting Chance, in partnership with Project 150 to benefit Las Vegas-area homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students. In collaboration with Syndicate MMA and Experience Transport Agency, the new program features classes led by Middleweight Boxer Shane Mosley Jr. and Welterweight UFC fighter Mike Pyle that foster youth empowerment by bolstering confidence and self-esteem.

Since 2011, Project 150 has offered free support and services to homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students throughout Southern Nevada to ensure they continue their education, graduate and build a successful future. Inspired by their work to lift up youth in our community, ProAm CEO & Co-Founder James Murphy said, “When I learned about the amazing efforts Project 150 deploys to make sure these kids stay in school, I knew I had to help. I created A Fighting Chance as a program to provide these kids with some of the tools for success including self-confidence, discipline, mentorship, and comradery through MMA training. My hope is that these young adults will see that what they learn through the program can be applied to all areas of their life and that there are a lot of folks out there like us who truly care.”

A Fighting Chance is a 90-day after-school program that provides students served by Project 150 the opportunity to attend twice-weekly classes led by Mosley Jr. and Pyle at Syndicate MMA’s world-renowned training center, known for the development of high-profile professional and amateur MMA athletes. With transportation sponsored by Experience Transport Agency, the program teaches the basic techniques of boxing and MMA and provides mentorship through special programming and guest speakers. Committed students who express continued interest will be eligible for exclusive experiences such as one-on-one training sessions and additional time with notable athletes.

At the conclusion of each program session, an award ceremony will be held recognizing the efforts of each participant. In addition, ProAm Sports Medicine, Syndicate MMA, and instructors Mosley Jr. and Pyle will identify students who display the strongest interest and ability, and provide the necessary gear to continue training at no cost.

“Project 150 is excited to partner with ProAm Sports Medicine, Syndicate MMA and Experience Transport Agency to offer students the opportunity to participate in this program,” said Kelli Kristo, executive director of Project 150. “A Fighting Chance is a perfect fit for our students who have an interest in martial arts but often have financial hardships that prevent them from being able to participate.”

In addition to the new program, ProAm Sports Medicine is hosting an ongoing collection drive to support Project 150 in providing students with the basic necessities to keep them in school. Donations such as new and gently used teen clothing; men and women’s shoes; unopened full size hygiene products and unopened and unexpired non-perishable food can be dropped off at ProAm Sports Medicine, located at 6315 S Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89118.

Those interested in getting involved and supporting A Fighting Chance can reach out to ProAm Sports Medicine by calling (800) 674-9515 or emailing info@proammedical.com. With the goal of serving as many students as possible, additional sponsors and partners are welcome and encouraged to join in growing the program and building its resources to benefit all high schoolers throughout Southern Nevada.
