Cox and Manheim Nevada help launch Cox “34 by 2034 Act to Impact”
Earth Day donations presented to local nonprofits
Cox Communications, Las Vegas and Cox Auto’s Manheim Nevada, both divisions of Cox Enterprises, celebrated Earth Day and the launch of the company’s “34 by 2034 Act to Impact” initiative by donating $5,000 each to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, Gilcrease Orchard Foundation and Opportunity Village.
Cox and Manheim Nevada employees also built 16 raised garden beds and assembled 400 hydroponic garden kits for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.
Gilcrease Orchard Foundation plans to use the donation to plant 300 new apple trees this fall. The $5,000 donation to Opportunity Village will support its programs.
“Cox has a long commitment to community investment in Southern Nevada that includes ongoing partnerships with the Boys & Girls Clubs and Opportunity Village and a new partnership with Gilcrease Orchard Foundation,” said Janet Uthman, vice president and market leader, Cox Las Vegas.
Eight local Boys & Girls Clubs feature a Cox Innovation Lab, an important part of Cox’s commitment to improving access to technology in local communities.
Cox’s two-decades-long relationship with Opportunity Village includes support of programs and employing some 100 differently abled clients to sort, clean, test and package Cox remote control units and wires/cables for Cox’s Nevada operations as well as company operations in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Idaho.
“Our social goal is to impact 34 million people by 2034 by advancing initiatives in order to create resilient and equitable communities, including technology access, environmental sustainability and social equity that will help build a better future for the next generation,” said Danny Brawn, general manager, Manheim Nevada.
