Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is proud to announce that Jacqueline Springer, a student at CASLV’s Sandy Ridge campus, was named the overall winner in the high school division at the Beal Bank USA Southern Nevada Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
Springer’s research science fair project, “Investigating Daphnia magna Response to Sleep Aids as an Indirect Correlation with Humans,” won the high school division and earned her an invitation to compete at the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, Georgia in May. Jacqueline Springer’s win means that she was chosen to represent not only Nevada but also the US at the International Science and Engineering Fair.
“I am very excited to announce that our student, Jacqueline Springer, was named the overall winner at this year’s regional science and engineering fair,” said Ercan Aydogdu, executive director and CEO at CASLV. “The Beal Bank USA Engineering & Science Fair is one of the most prestigious competitions here in the valley and Jacqueline’s win showcases Coral Academy’s dedication to not only a STEM based education, but our commitment to inspire our students to be passionate about science.
We are proud of all our students who participated in this year’s competition and wish Jacqueline the best of luck as she goes on to compete at the 2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, Georgia.”
The Beal Bank USA Southern Nevada Regional Science & Engineering Fair was held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and aims to promote student interest in mathematics and scientific studies. CASLV’s high school students earned first and third place designations in the category of medicine and health and honorable mention designations in the categories of engineering, environmental, energy and transportation and physics, astronomy, and science.
CASLV would also like to recognize Neil Roy (Medicine/Health) for his third place win along with Audrey Marsh and Furqaan Qazi (Engineering) for their honorable mentions in competition.
