Community Ambulance Set To Open Cutting Edge Health Science Center
Students and first responders will receive, hands-on experience, in two classrooms built for in-person and virtual instruction
LAS VEGAS– Community Ambulance, Southern Nevada’s community-focused emergency service, announced today the grand opening of its new Health Science Center. Equipped with an indoor ambulance simulator and multipurpose rooms designed as a hotel room and a fully equipped trauma hospital room, will help prepare students and frontline workers for medical emergency calls. The Health and Science Center will officially open this Tuesday, March 22, with a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 10 am.
“As a company we have always put our community first and are consistently looking for proactive and responsive solutions to meet its needs,” said Glen Simpson, senior director of speciality care for Community Ambulance. “A critical part of this commitment is providing education to help fuel a safer and healthier place to call home.”
With trailblazing technology, students and first responders will receive cutting edge, hands-on experience, in two classrooms built for in-person and virtual instruction as well as several breakout rooms for real-life simulation.
A central feature of the center is a real-life ambulance box mounted inside one of the classroom walls to better assist students in making the transition from class into actually working on an ambulance. One of the breakout rooms, in true Las Vegas fashion, is designed as a hotel room. The multipurpose living room will prepare students, including local hotel and casino frontline security officers, for medical emergency calls. Another breakout room is set as a hospital room. Equipped with trauma equipment and a simulation mannequin able to simulate a patient with cardiac monitoring capabilities. The room will “throw students into the fire” of emergency medical services. In addition, students will learn about transferring patients to or from facilities, such as nursing homes and practice transferring patients to and from hospital beds.
With their “boots on the ground” experience, classes will also simulate special events, a speciality area for Community Ambulance, which has most notably earned a reputation by servcings high-profile clients and special events such as MGM Resorts International, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas Raiders, EDC and the City of Henderson.
The instructional spaces will give EMS instructors powerful tools to inspire and inform the next generation of EMS professionals, other pre-hospital care providers and those who may need to administer care in the community.
Community Ambulance has been Southern Nevada’s hometown ambulance company for over 10 years, leading the valley with the fastest and highest level of service to patients for 911 and non-911 medical services.
The Health and Science Center will officially open this Tuesday, March 22, with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Community Ambulance leaders, the City of Henderson Chamber of Commerce and elected officials.
