SilverSummit Healthplan announced today that Steven Evans, M.D., has been appointed as SilverSummit Healthplan’s chief medical officer.
“Dr. Evans has been an outstanding medical provider and leader in our community for over two decades,” said Eric Schmacker, SilverSummit Healthplan’s President & CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome him on board as his proven leadership and understanding of our member community, as well as the healthcare providers who care for them, will be instrumental as we continue to enhance the health and well-being of the Nevadans we serve.”
Most recently, Dr. Evans served as the vice president of quality and utilization management as well as, pharmacy director for Intermountain Healthcare in Las Vegas, where he oversaw strategic planning and implementation of medical management for the organization, including expense management, utilization management, remote patient monitoring, research, and other clinical programs. He was also responsible for the clinical and technical functions for pharmacy services for Intermountain Nevada. Prior to this, Dr. Evans served as chief medical officer at United Healthcare, Nevada.

In 1985, Dr. Evans graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from the University of Southern California. In 1989, he graduated as valedictorian from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical School and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Medical Center in 1993. Dr. Evans is an American Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and has been published multiple times in various medical journals.
