What was your first job?
In high school, I worked in a sports clothing store and warehouse. I was always climbing high ladders in the back to get the right size and color of sweatshirts customers wanted to buy. I guess climbing ladders back then foreshadowed my future!
What has been instrumental to your success?
Four people: My husband Rob, who is my cheerleader and also my rock during the tough times; my business partner, Greg Ferraro, who always says to, “keep smiling” no matter what happens during an unpredictable workday; and my twin teen daughters, Ella and Olivia, whom I love being a role model for.
If you had to live in another country for a year, which would you choose?
Italy because of the history, architecture, amazing cuisine, incredible wine, and people. It’s a wonderful country to explore.
What is your motto?
Not so much a motto as a favorite quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you have?
Walter White/Heisenberg (Bryan Cranston) from “Breaking Bad”, my all time favorite series. I’m not sure about the meal, but nothing that chemicals could be poured into!
What do you want your legacy to be?
[I would like people to see that I] worked hard, but never stopped short of lending a hand to help others. There is always someone worse off, and being able to support them with compassion and other means makes my life a lot more gratifying.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Always be resilient. Life throws curve balls, and you have to keep a positive attitude, be true to yourself and others, and be determined to stay on your path in life. Don’t delay in picking yourself up if you fall down.
What is your favorite thing about living in Nevada?
It’s never boring. You can go to incredible restaurants, amazing concerts and shows, or go hiking in Red Rock or for walks around beautiful parks. There is always something to do 24/7 in the Silver State.
