As part of its 75th anniversary, and to help improve the quality of life for its residents, the Leadership Class of 2022 is working to secure $25,000 in support of the project
CARSON CITY, NEV. – The Carson City Leadership Institute Class of 2022 is asking for community support as it aims to raise money for this year’s class project, which will significantly improve the Eagle Valley Children’s Home patio space.
Eagle Valley Children’s Home is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1946. It provides a residential option for Nevada children and adults who are intellectually and physically disabled needing specialized care and treatment. For 75 years, the Eagle Valley Children’s Home has quietly and humbly served Carson City and Northern Nevada, and in that time, has provided a much-needed service greatly impacting the lives of those whom they have served as well as their families.
In learning more about Eagle Valley Children’s Home, the 2022 Carson City Leadership Institute wished to recognize the non-profit’s 75th anniversary, and help improve the quality of life for its residents. It was brought to the class’s attention that the patio space at EVCH was rarely used due to safety issues and lack of visual appeal. After visiting the site it was clear this was the project to pursue.
The group of 15 community leaders aim to remodel the patio to be a safer and visually beautiful space for the residents. In addition, they hope to create a sensory garden for everyday physical enjoyment and mental well-being, all much needed improvements for the space to be usable for residents and visiting family.
“Our class is working to secure enough funding to complete this project by May,” Lydia Beck, Class of 2022 participant and the marketing and PR manager at Visit Carson City, said. “We hope people consider donating any amount that will help us reach a goal of $25,000. Together, we can improve the lives of the residents of the Eagle Valley Children’s Home and create a beautiful, safe space to spend quality time for physical and mental well-being as well as visiting with family.”
Thanks to ongoing public and business support over the years, the Carson City Leadership Institute classes have put together incredible projects that have made important improvements and contributions to the Carson City community. Donations for this year’s class project may be made online or by calling the Chamber Office, 775-882-1565 directly.
