For a show of generosity, these shoes are a shoo-in.
John Molchon, a Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School alumnus and an offensive lineman for the National Football League’s defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will donate his cleats to support Faith Lutheran’s Mark 10:14 program for the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats initiative.
According to NFL.com, during week 13 NFL players will be wearing customized cleats in honor of the causes they have chosen to support through My Cause My Cleats. The cleats are then auctioned off and proceeds will go to the causes.
Faith Lutheran’s Mark 10:14 program serves middle and high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program provides one-on-one academic support for students who have special needs and creates opportunities to participate in general education classes and campus activities.
The Mark 10:14 program also offers mentoring opportunities that help build relationships between Faith Lutheran general education students and students with special needs.
Molchon’s customized gold-colored cleats feature Faith Lutheran’s maroon shield logo on their toe and ankle and FAITH LUTHERAN printed in golden block letters in a maroon swath around the cleats’ heels. The Mark 10:14 bible verse is on the inside of the cleat.
Molchon will be wearing the cleats on Dec. 5 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the Atlanta Falcons.
“John has been such a wonderful supporter of the Mark 10:14 Program in so many ways! I constantly hear stories about his time as a student here at Faith Lutheran. He would go out of his way to befriend the students in our program and was such a great role model of inclusion at our school,” said Faith Lutheran Mark 10:14 teacher Amanda Abbott. “Even now, John comes back for our fundraising events and helps spread awareness for our program and inclusion of people with disabilities. John is just an all-around good guy, and I am so amazed by his generosity, thoughtfulness, and kind heart. All of Mark 10:14 is cheering for you, John!”
This is the sixth season NFL players are participating in My Cause My Cleats; more than 1,000 players participate annually.
Fans may bid on player cleats at nfl.com/auction. On Thursday night, the opening bid for Molchon’s cleats was $250.
