Las Vegas Day School’s Student Council students recently held their annual Food Drive virtually for the second year. Las Vegas Day School families of students in Preschool through Eighth grade donated $6,700 to benefit HELP of Southern Nevada’s Thanksgiving Program.
Las Vegas Day School’s Student Council sponsor, Mrs. Robyn Gabe, said, “We have been conducting a food drive before Thanksgiving for numerous years, but last year, due to the pandemic, we moved to HELP’s virtual food drive. This made it even easier for Las Vegas Day School families to participate by giving online monetary donations instead of canned goods. This year we have exceeded expectations, and HELP will be able to serve hundreds of families thanks to everyone’s generous donations. We are always proud to help our community in whatever way we can.”
In total, there were 224 separate online donations on behalf of the students at Las Vegas Day School resulting in the sizeable donation to HELP of Southern Nevada.
Joan Lima, Development Manager for HELP of Southern Nevada said, “Las Vegas Day School has supported HELP of Southern Nevada for many years, and we are truly grateful for this continued partnership. These much-appreciated donations will go a long way in providing a Thanksgiving turkey and groceries to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal to needy families this Holiday season.”
HELP of Southern Nevada was founded in 1970 and assists tens of thousands of clients each year. HELP offers a variety of programs and services designed to help individuals, families, and youth overcome barriers, attain, or increase their self-sufficiency, and keep people housed or get them housed.
