LAS VEGAS – Goodwill of Southern Nevada (Goodwill®) is encouraging customers to support job seekers in the community by shopping at local Goodwill thrift stores this Halloween season. Despite the concerns around COVID-19, 74% of Americans intend to celebrate Halloween this year according to the Goodwill® 2021 Halloween Survey. Although only 34% said they plan to wear a costume, nearly half of Americans (48%) plan to purchase or create a Halloween costume for either themselves or someone in their household. The survey also found that Goodwill stores top the list (88%) of favorite places to shop among those who prefer DIY costumes and look for materials at thrift stores.
“Goodwill is a destination spot for Halloween shopping, and this is our busiest time of the year,” said Richard (“Rick”) D. Neal Jr., president and CEO of Goodwill of Southern Nevada. “While we are excited to see the creativity of our customers’ costume and decor selection this Halloween, we are even more excited about the impact this holiday shopping season has on our Mission Services. By choosing Goodwill as the primary destination for Halloween costumes and donations, customers are supporting our local community by generating funding into our Mission Services. This ultimately helps equip us with the space and career staff needed to help others gain the skills and support they need to find employment.”
Goodwill continues to provide employment supportive services such as résumé training, computer labs for job searches, financial education, transportation and more—all free of charge for job seekers year- round. Shoppers can purchase an eco-friendly Halloween look along with decor for less, and take pride in the positive impact their Goodwill purchase has.
