(RENO, Nev.) – OffBeat Music Festival returns for its sixth year with a stacked lineup featuring 70 performances of both local and touring bands from across the United States and as far away as Istanbul, Turkey. The Festival will take place in eight different venues around Midtown Reno, Nev. from September 29 to October 2, 2021.
In order to ensure the health of all festival attendees, musicians and venue staff, OffBeat has established safety protocols in response to the global pandemic. As with other music festivals across the country, OffBeat will require that all attendees provide proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test within 48 hours of attending the festival and must wear a mask indoors when not actively eating or drinking. Also, to ensure that attendees are properly screened before entering any festival venues, there will be no walk-up sales in 2021. All attendees must purchase tickets in advance and go through the proper screening when redeeming their ticket for a wristband prior to attending.
“We understand that some of these measures won’t be popular with people in our area, but we feel strongly that anything that we can do to help minimize the risk to attendees, volunteers and artists becoming severely ill from COVID-19 is something that we must do,” said Flip Wright, Festival Director and Co-Founder. “In fact, many artists are now demanding these types of protocols. This is just the way it’s going to be for a while, and we support it.”
Also because of the COVID-19 pandemic and a shuffle of venues operating in the area, OffBeat will be in new venues in 2021 including The Alpine, The Virgil, Savage Mystic and other past festival favorites The Chapel, The Loving Cup, Craft Wine & Beer, 40 Mile Saloon and The Holland Project. With the purchase of a wristband, attendees can walk around and discover an eclectic and highly curated assortment of artists across different genres from Americana, Psychedelia, Country, Rock, Funk and Blues.
Over time, OffBeat Music Festival has hosted nearly 500 performances and has developed a reputation as a unique, grassroots event that is different and more open to emerging and established independent artists.
“Off Beat shares a kinship with our favorite music events like Treefort (Boise), Levitation (Austin), and M for Montreal. Events that are regional that also attract international talent are exceptionally powerful: you connect with an arts community as you experience their city. Park The Van is proud to have a label event in Reno this year after having several artists participate over the years. Off Beat proves that Reno does it right!” said Christopher Watson, Founder of Park The Van Records who will be hosting a label showcase at The Holland Project on Saturday, October 2nd.
Off Beat has evolved with Reno’s growing culture and business expansion. Each year, it collaborates with many local businesses to craft an event that allows the attendees to get off the beaten path and discover the new and exciting things Reno has to offer.
