Company Recognized for Widespread Impact Through its Philanthropic Service Organization
LAS VEGAS – After launching a groundbreaking philanthropic service group, Desert Radiology — an official Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence that has served Southern Nevada for more than 55 years — announced it received the Others First Award in the Philanthropy and Giving category at Nevada Business Magazine’s 2021 Nevada Business Awards.
The award recognizes the business’ ongoing practice culture of giving back through numerous volunteering and fundraising initiatives. Desert Radiology provides these efforts through its DR Do-Gooders program, a philanthropic service organization designed to unite and energize employees with outreach opportunities.
“Our team at Desert Radiology not only works hard to support our patients’ health — we also strive to promote a vibrant community by giving back,” said Corrie Riccadonna, director, marketing & provider relations of Desert Radiology. “This award marks a fantastic achievement by our team members who volunteer hundreds of hours and take part in something bigger than themselves. We applaud all of our DR Do-Gooders team members for helping us succeed in putting others first, and we look forward to supporting and caring for our community for many years to come.”
Desert Radiology took a dramatic step to aid the community in 2016, when it pivoted from promoting its services to supporting Southern Nevadans in need. With this goal, the company stopped all conventional advertising and redirected the saved ad dollars into creating DR Do-Gooders.
The DR Do-Gooders team supports numerous nonprofits across the Las Vegas Valley, including Opportunity Village, the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen of Nevada and the City Impact Center. The group’s largest events include a Back-to-School Backpack Drive that provides hundreds of backpacks and additional supplies to students in need, and a Dry Bottoms diaper drive that collected tens of thousands of diapers for hundreds of Las Vegas families.
At least 70 to 80 DR Do-Gooders team members volunteer for each of the group’s outreach efforts.
