About Armed Forces and Military Veterans Appreciation Inc.
Armed Forces and Military Veterans Appreciation Inc. (AFMVA) was established in 2014 to carry out its mission of support and assistance for veterans and those currently serving in military service. Working in partnership with the North Las Vegas Veterans Community Commission, our goal is to be available in providing employment opportunities, education, relocation assistance, and transition-related assistance from active duty to civilian life.
Our first event, Armed Forces and Military Veterans Appreciation in 2014, gave us the privilege of serving and providing entertainment for approximately 8,000 of our active service members, veterans, and their families. In early 2016, in addition to our military service members and veterans, and in recognition of “Patriot Day” proclaimed by presidential executive order, we also honored those 2,977 individuals who perished on September 11, 2001, many of whom were veteran citizens, police, firefighters and first responders.
On June 15, 2016, North Las Vegas Mayor and Council adopted a resolution that will now allow us to continue to honor those who lost their lives in 2001, along with our military service members and first responders who continue to serve our country. As part of our endless appreciation, we host a celebration annually every October.
AFMVA qualifies for public charity status under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
