HENDERSON, Nev. – Today, surrounded by family, friends and supporters, Henderson City Councilwoman Michelle Romero, officially launched her campaign for Mayor. An accomplished and proven leader who has helped champion some of the most significant redevelopment and revitalization projects in the city, Romero vowed to bring her positive vision and record to the Mayor’s office.
“It has been an honor and privilege to represent the residents of Henderson on the city council, and I’m thrilled to launch our campaign today with so much encouragement and excitement from the voters,” Romero stated. “I believe that with my proven leadership, I am the most qualified candidate for this role. My promise to the residents of Henderson is that I will continue to work hard for them, our job-providers, our workers, and our retirees. I am prepared to contribute my all to this important job, with a clear vision and understanding of the responsibilities of this office.”
As councilwoman of Ward 1 for the City of Henderson, Michelle has remained extremely active in the community and has been a leading force behind several large projects that will bring significant economic benefit to the city. One of Michelle’s biggest accomplishments prior to and continuing on as councilwoman has been her part in the redevelopment of Henderson’s historic Water Street District. When Michelle assumed her role as Manager of Redevelopment, she knew that she wanted to revitalize the downtown area, making it again a place where families and friends could gather and enjoy the surrounding offerings. To help ensure this vision came to fruition, Michelle created a handful of financial assistance programs to offer to businessowners seeking to redevelop or construct on Water Street and also helped found the Water Street District Business Association. The area has recently seen the addition of new restaurants, new residential developments, a community hockey arena, and more. Not only has this redevelopment project created job opportunities for many residents, but it has also created a new energy that has started to attract people back into the area.
“As Mayor, I will work to make sure our communities and neighborhoods are safe, and that our police have our support,” continued Romero. “I will make sure our businesses can thrive, our schools remain open and parents regain faith in our education system, and that the services the city provides are done well, in a timely manner, and always with respect to the taxpayers who fund them.”
Official candidate filings for office take place in March 2022, and the Primary Election will be held on June 14, 2022. Candidates in Henderson run at-large in non-partisan races. For more information, please visit voteMichelleRomero.com
