LAS VEGAS – Cure 4 The Kids Foundation (C4K), Nevada’s only outpatient children’s cancer center announced Clinical Nurse Educator Jackie Garcia has been awarded the prestigious DAISY Award recognizing compassion and excellence in nursing care to patients and families.

Garcia, a hemophilia-oncology nurse, recently received her Masters degree in nursing education from Grand Canyon University and often volunteers in the community with Make-A-Wish and other community partners. She is a leader and educator at C4K as well as an empathetic mentor and support for the patients and their families.
“The Daisy Award is extra special to me because it comes from the patients and families that we care for every day,” said Garcia. “I’m honored to win the Daisy Award and will continue to do everything I can to make sure our patients receive outstanding care.”
The nonprofit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he passed in 1999 from complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The DAISY FOUNDATION was established in his memory to express gratitude to nurses and recognize them for the extraordinary and skillful care they provide around the world.
