RENO, Nev. – The Club at ArrowCreek has hired a new general manager, assistant general manager and director of culinary operations. The new leadership team will be instrumental in guiding the private golf course and country club as it continues to undergo a $50 million renovation project that includes a transformation of Club’s full-service clubhouse, multiple new dining options and a new meeting and event space, available to rent by the public.
Serving as general manager for The Club at ArrowCreek is Jim Cleary, an accomplished hospitality executive with more than 34 years of experience operating complex and multi-amenity facilities. He most recently served as the general manager of Red Hawk Golf and Resort in Sparks and previously held the title of chief operating officer at The Lodge of Four Seasons and The Club at Porto Cima, both in Missouri. Importantly for his new role at The Club at ArrowCreek is Cleary’s experience with development, pre-opening, opening, major construction, and concurrent operations as well as his demonstrated commitment to exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction.
Also joining the team is assistant general manager, Nathaniel Brethold, a seasoned hospitality vet with nearly two-decades of restaurant and hotel experience. Brethold is excited to return to the area to take on the exciting task of renovating all the dining outlets at The Club at ArrowCreek while overseeing both day-to-day operations and an expansive team of managers, servers, hosts, private-dining professionals and catering experts.
Mostly recently, Brethold worked for the Ricketts family, owners of the Chicago Cubs. He successfully helped that team build and open 10 restaurants and a 173-room boutique hotel in the Gallagher Way Complex. Prior to that he honed his experience in the hotel industry with more than 15 years with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. After graduating from culinary school at Johnson and Wales, Brethold began developing a true 360-view of the industry by working as everything from a dishwasher to a banquet server, and eventually earning the position of Ritz-Carlton’s food and beverage director. During this time, Brethold developed his business acumen and worldview alike, traveling across ten cities and three countries to open nearly a dozen Ritz-Carlton hotel and resort properties.
Chef Leon Teow will serve as the Club’s director of culinary operations. Chef Teow’s culinary journey began when he was just six years old helping his mother’s catering business in Penang, Malaysia. After graduating from the Penang Culinary Association Chef Teow would go on to have stints at the Shangri-La Hotel and the five-star Mutiara Hotel by Mandarin Oriental in Malaysia; The Princess Hotel in Bermuda; and to the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in Florida. He spent a decade with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel company assisting with the opening and reopening of numerous properties including The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall, Jamaica; The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner in McLean, Virginia; The Ritz-Carlton, Naples; and The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach among others. Most recently he served as executive chef at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando where he oversaw 126 employees and $25 million in food and beverage revenue.
The Club is currently hiring for multiple positions including seasonal, part-time and full-time positions in golf, food and beverage, aquatics and maintenance. Those interested can learn more and apply at Indeed.com.
