Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada will host the Virtual Race for Financial Freedom throughout April to celebrate Financial Literacy Month. The virtual event will support local educators, students, and families through Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada’s various K-12 financial educational programs.
Registrants are encouraged to participate as individuals and families or with friends and co-workers. The virtual race does not have a specific location or starting time. Instead, participants can run or walk in their own neighborhood, favorite trail or park, or even on a treadmill any time before the racing period ends on April 30, 2021. Upon completion, results can be uploaded for recognition. There also is an opportunity to contribute more points to overall results through various activities, projects, donations, volunteering and other “Do Good” acts of kindness.

“The Virtual Race for Financial Freedom is a great way to stay connected while so many of us are still working from home, and looking for safe and socially distanced ways to stay fit,” said Michelle Jackson, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. “Racers can log any exercise ‒ walking, running, biking, yard work, Pilates, sports ‒ whatever works for them, and that will be converted to virtual miles which will move participants along their virtual route. Additionally, the ‘Do Good’ options provide another way for people to add points while doing a favorite activity, trying something new and helping others. All of these contribute to Junior Achievement and helping our community’s youth learn financial tools to help position them for future success.”
The top three participants for their overall race footprint and the top three fundraisers will be recognized as the winners of the Virtual Race for Financial Freedom.
The cost is only $20 per person, who should each have a goal to raise at least $100. Sponsorship opportunities also are still available.
