Allegiant Stadium Exceeded Community Benefit Goals
Mortenson | McCarthy, the construction team that built the Allegiant Stadium has released a community benefits report for the project, which was completed in July of last year and cost $2 billion. The benefit report showed that the project exceeded the community benefit goals that were set for it. The Nevada Legislature established a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goal for the project at 15 percent; the project SBE achieved was 23 percent. In addition, 70 percent of all firms awarded work were Nevada based and 80 percent of the workforce were local Nevada residents.
GradReports Releases Salary Score for Nevada Schools
GradReports compared salaries of over 4.6 million college graduates to determine the salary scores for over 2,200 colleges. The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) received an overall score of 52 (out of 100) at the Bachelor’s level. A communication and media studies major scored 88 and an environmental engineering degree scored 90 at UNR. The school also ranked first in providing the best Social Work Bachelor’s degree. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) achieved an overall score of 59 at the Bachelor’s level. A civil engineering degree had a score of 89 and a drama/ theatre arts degree rated at 96. UNLV also ranked 11th for the best online Healthcare Administration Master’s degree.
CSN and Las Vegas to Create Education and Training Center
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded a $6.9 million grant CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the Nevada System of Higher Education, Las Vegas to support workforce education and training at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). The grant is expected to help create 300 jobs. The funds will be used to create the Westside Workforce Education and Training Center, a partnership between CSN and the city of Las Vegas. The center will help trained unemployed and underemployed residents to provide pathways to careers with family-sustainable wages.
