LAS VEGAS — Nevada Donor Network (NDN) announced today the appointment of Phillip Ruiz, M.D., Ph.D., as associate laboratory medical director. Dr. Ruiz is an internationally recognized expert in transplantation-pathology, histocompatibility, immunology, and immunopathology, bringing more than three decades of experience in the medical field to his new role at NDN.
Dr. Ruiz has been at the University of Miami since 1989, where he is a professor of pathology and surgery, the medical director of the transplant laboratories, and director of immunopathology.
He has more than 485 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous chapters. He is a frequently invited speaker at worldwide meetings and is on the editorial board and/or a reviewer of numerous journals.
Dr. Ruiz is also a member of many professional and honorary organizations including: the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Association of Immunologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Dr. Ruiz received his doctorate in immunology from the University of Florida, his medical degree from George Washington University, and did his residency in pathology and fellowship training at Duke University.
