De Castroverde Law Group, led by brothers Alex and Orlando De Castroverde, was recently awarded the second annual Inspira Award from the Las Vegas Latino Bar Association at a virtual awards ceremony that took place in January.
The Inspira Award recognizes individuals or businesses in the Las Vegas Valley for their outstanding contributions and support of the Latino/Hispanic community and their commitment to fostering diversity in the local legal community. The Las Vegas Latino Bar Association Board of Directors unanimously voted to award the 2020 Inspira Award to the De Castroverde Law Group for the firm’s continuous support of the local community.
The firm was founded in 2005 by brothers Alex and Orlando De Castroverde and built on the practice established by their father, Waldo De Castroverde. The firm specializes in personal injury, criminal defense and immigration law. Most of the firm’s attorneys are fluent in Spanish.
Born in Havana, Cuba in 1941, Waldo De Castroverde came to the United States in 1960 and shortly thereafter became a paratrooper in the Bay of Pigs invasion. He was subsequently incarcerated in Cuba for almost two years after the invasion failed. After eventually being released back to the United States and meeting his future wife, Vivian, who was also born in Cuba, they moved to Reno with their four children in 1987. After attending law school at night – while he and his wife dealt blackjack during the day – Waldo became one of the first attorneys in Nevada to open a law office with the focus on representing the Hispanic community. Alex and Orlando De Castroverde followed in their father’s footsteps and De Castroverde Law Group was formed in 2005 as a branch from the Law Office of Waldo De Castroverde. What started out with three practicing attorneys has grown to 16 attorneys with a total team of over 70.
“We are honored to have been awarded the Inspira Award by the Las Vegas Latino Bar Association,” said Alex De Castroverde. “My dad was proud to have had the opportunity to represent the Hispanic community for all those years and to be able to treat them with the dignity and professionalism that they deserve. Our firm strives to continue the tradition that our dad set in motion. The Las Vegas Latino Bar Association is doing some outstanding things for the local Hispanic community and we are grateful beyond words for their recognition.”
