What is your hometown?
I was born in Wurzburg, Germany in a US Army Hospital. I was raised in the Bay area and graduated from Los Gatos High. I have lived in Reno, Nevada since 1981 and am a proud 4th generation Nevadan.
What was your first job?
My first job was a paperboy delivering the San Jose Mercury News. At age 16, I saved enough to buy my first car, a ’66 Mustang, which I still have.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Work hard, play hard and live life with no regrets. Surround yourself with positive people, with a path of success and happiness.
If you had to live in another country for a year, which would you choose and why?
I love Italy! While I was born in Germany, I have visited Italy three times now and love their history and culture. I am part Italian as well!
What is an issue currently facing your industry an outside observer might not be aware of?
It is too easy to get a real estate license and then easier to hang your license with a brokerage firm who may offer no training and little supervision. New brokerage models are forming with very little infrastructure, promising “everything” and causing more issues with professional representation of clients. Our industry was built on relational selling and it is being challenged by transactional models with less care.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
“A Journey Well Lived: The Adventures of One Man’s Bucket List”
What is your motto?
My professional motto is to do the right thing, all the time. My personal motto is Carpe Diem – “seize the day.”
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be remembered as a good father, husband and friend who cared about creating memories with my family and friends. I love my community and always try to contribute in leadership roles to help others. I hope to be remembered as someone who lived life filled with adventure, always focused on positivity and someone you could always count on.
