The College of Southern Nevada will be the first NSHE Institution to distribute free laptops to all full-time, first-time in college students beginning today. Times and locations are listed below, and members of the media are invited to attend.
“With the majority of our students attending classes remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe it’s critical to ensure that they have access to the tools they need to succeed,” said CSN President Dr. Federico Zaragoza.
Current full-time CSN students who were enrolled in college for the first time in the fall 2020 semester have been notified that they are eligible. Those who graduate from a degree program within two years at CSN will be able to keep the laptops permanently, free of charge.
CSN is delivering approximately 85 percent of its classes online, with some science labs and career and technical education courses in-person. Because access to the internet is essential, these laptops are fitted with SIM cards that have enhanced bandwidth capabilities to allow users to work anywhere and at any time. More information on the laptops and the program is available at www.csn.edu/firsttimefulltimelaptops.
Distribution begins this afternoon and will continue through next week.
