Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU), a Las Vegas-based financial institution, announces its winning entries from K-12 students, as part of a long-standing tradition of its SSSCU Annual Happy Times Calendar.
As in previous years, SSSCU received hundreds of artwork submissions from local students in the Clark County School District, private schools, and charter schools, as well as students who are homeschooled. Artwork pieces were encouraged to showcase anything that makes the participating students happy. This includes momentous occasions, such as holidays, family, vacations, and celebrations. One student from each grade level is selected as a winner for their respective grade and will receive a $100 cash prize and have their original artwork framed. The calendar artwork is featured in SSSCU’s Westcliff and Tule Springs branches. Furthermore, each of the winning student’s school receives a $100 check for their art program.
“It is touching to see what makes our students happy, with their creative artwork expressed through the eyes of children. Everyone needs happy times in their life and this annual program puts us all in the spirit,” says Scott A. Arkills, President and CEO, Silver State Schools Credit Union. “We hope these themed calendars, designed by students in our community, will bring cheer to our members, and is a symbolic way to celebrate our 70th year in 2021.”
Calendars will be available at all SSSCU branches on Monday, December 7th. Each member can receive one free copy of the calendar. Additional copies of the calendar may be purchased for $2.00 each, while supplies last. Proceeds from the sales of the calendars benefit the Silver State Schools CU People Over Profit (POP) Foundation. The POP Foundation supports local communities through educational programs and non-profits that primarily work with students from grades K – 12.
