Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, programs and services developed to provide dental care to at-risk populations were suddenly halted and dentists offices closed for non-emergency treatment. However, as services continue to reopen throughout the state, a growing divide has arisen for those who are unable to seek dental services or those uncomfortable visiting a dentist’s office due to fear of COVID-19 transmission. To discuss these issues, in addition to the importance of oral health on overall health and how practitioners are working protect patients, several statewide organizations have joined for an informative webinar during Dental Hygiene Awareness Month.
