Faith Lutheran Middle School and High School will adapt its annual Crusader Knight tuition-assistance fundraiser for the coronavirus pandemic, forgoing a large in-person gathering and taking the events virtual, complete with gourmet “watch party” goodies.
Crusader Knight, from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Oct. 28, will be broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube and will raise money for scholarships for Faith students who need tuition assistance. The need for such aid has intensified since the pandemic started; 1 in 5 students now need the help, up from 1 in 6 students previously.
“This year the need for tuition assistance has increased exponentially due to the pandemic,” said Dr. Steve Buuck, CEO of Faith Lutheran. “Families are already struggling, and we don’t want tuition to add to their struggles.”
Donors who give $2,500 to $25,000 will receive full-course meals prepared by Faith family member Sonia Al-Nawal, a Michelin-trained internationally renowned chef from the Rooster Boy Café, delivered to their homes. The meals will include wine and desserts and will come with Watch Party kits. Donors who give $250 will receive a curbside charcuterie spread (on a commemorative Faith Lutheran-logoed cutting board), a bottle of wine and a Watch Party kit.
Crusader Knight will feature a silent auction and a 45-minute live program featuring a live auction of upscale items and a “Fund-A-Student” giving opportunity with auctioneer Christian Kolberg. Prerecorded segments will include performances by Faith’s Show Choir and the Middle School Dance team, video of campus and campus activity, testimonials from tuition assistance recipients and the granting of the Founders Award.
The event’s fundraising goal is $400,000.
