On September 12, 2020 the Volunteer Action Committee (VAC) is off for another adventure and privilege of helping those who have given so much. The VAC will be spending the day facilitating some much-needed upgrading at the US Vets Radcliff Housing Facility.
US Vets Radcliff Housing Facility residents stole the hearts of the local EWMC 357 (Electrical Workers Minority Caucus) in 2015 during the annual National Day of Service event. Since then the Radcliff Housing Facility has been known as “Our Radcliff Vets”. The local EWMC has been providing meals, donations, care packages but most important their TIME over the last 5 years to the residents. Time to listen to their stories, their struggles, their needs, and their continued successes. These residents have gone from homelessness, losing everything, even hope, to temporary or permanent housing stability, medical and mental assistance if needed and so much more. This is possible through the services provided by the US Vets of Las Vegas, NV. The Radcliff Housing Facility was built in the 1962 and is in need of upgrades throughout. The EWMC reached out to the VAC for assistance in making some of the items on a much-needed wish list a reality. On September 12, 2020, the VAC will embark on the wish list of upgrades to the Radcliff Housing Facility while adhering to proper safety guidelines. These upgrades will include: Replacing stand-alone AC unit to a window unit, repurposing circuits for new refrigerator units, replacing lighting fixtures, making security adjustments to camera’s, doors and locks, replacing/repairing exit signs, adding a few flood lights and a new sign above the front door. There are many more items that need to be addressed and hopefully with future support we will be able to continue the upgrades.
