LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation recently elected four new members to its Board of Directors: Armon Mills, Business Consulting and Community Relations Director at CBIZ MHM, LLC, Jamie Thalgott, Shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP, Mike Howard, President at Howard Consulting Services LLC, and Susan Cushman, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Nevada.
Armon Mills – Business Consulting and Community Relations Director at CBIZ MHM, LLC
Armon Mills is a director in the Irvine office of CBIZ with a focus on General Management, Business Consulting and Community Relations. Armon has over 20 years of public accounting experience as an auditor and was a managing partner in St. Louis, Kansas City and Minneapolis with a previous national CPA firm. Armon spent over 30 years publishing local business journals and was President & Chief Operating Officer of a public company that started and purchased 35 local business journals across the United States. He was also the President and Publisher of local business journals in Phoenix, Ariz., San Jose, Calif. and San Diego, Calif. Armon has been very active in local communities and is a Life Member of the San Diego Holiday Bowl. He continues to serve on the board of the San Diego University Club and is Director Emeritus of the San Diego Police Foundation. Armon received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
Jamie Thalgott – Shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP
Jamie Thalgott has served as a shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP since 2019. A Las Vegas local, Jamie grew up in Downtown Las Vegas until she ventured off to Washington D.C. to attend Georgetown University. Upon graduation in 2007, she then left for Nashville, Tennessee to attend Vanderbilt University where she earned a Juris Doctor degree.
In 2010, Jamie moved back to her hometown of Las Vegas to clerk for Judge James Mahan in the U.S. District Court and shortly after, she then began her career at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP. In 2016, Jamie accepted an offer to work for the City Attorney’s Office in Henderson and spent almost four years representing the Planning Commission and assisting the Community Development & Services, Governmental Affairs, Property Management and Redevelopment Departments. She later returned to Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP as a shareholder, focusing on real estate, land use and development work. Her significant other is a LVMPD detective at the Northwest Area Command station and her dedication to the Valley makes her a great addition to the LVMPD Foundation.
Mike Howard – President at Howard Consulting Services LLC
Mike Howard started off his career as a police officer in Oakland, Calif. until he later joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 1980. In his 22-year span at the CIA, he worked in the Office of Security, the Counterterrorism Center, the Office of Military Affairs, the Inspector General’s Office, and finally as as a Chief-of-Station in one of their domestic stations.
Mike then joined Microsoft in 2002, where he later took on the role of Chief Security Officer and was responsible for global physical security operations for a company with a footprint spanning 190 countries and more than 138,000 employees. Mike oversaw a division of seasoned security professionals across the globe, and established a sophisticated arsenal of tools and advanced threat assessment protocols. The tools include advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, IoT, machine learning and leveraging Microsoft’s intelligent cloud. Mike retired from Microsoft in 2018, and now lives with his wife Janice in Las Vegas.
Susan Cushman – Assistant U.S. Attorney, United States Attorney’s Office – District of Nevada
Susan Cushman currently serves in the U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Nevada. She began her career in law after graduating from Marquette University Law School in 1988. Susan began practicing law and developed and prosecuted criminal cases across New York, Colorado, Northern California, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia. As an attorney with over 20 years of experience conferring with law enforcement partner agencies, Susan is a valued member on the Board of Directors. Throughout her career, Susan has received multiple awards including Case of the Year – Operation Midnight Madness, HIDTA Pacific Region in 2007, Case of the Year – Operation USO Family, HIDTA Pacific Region in 2008 and, FBI Director’s Award – Operation Broken Spoke in 2018.
These newly appointed board members will assist in achieving LVMPD Foundation’s mission to raise funds to support and supplement hundreds of LVMPD programs and initiatives intended to connect law enforcement and community members to build a safer Southern Nevada.
