Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is proud to announce Brock Patchin has been awarded the inaugural Eric Lyons Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was created in memory of former CASLV student Eric Lyons and is open to seniors at CASLV.
“We are pleased to share that the first Eric Lyons Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to CASLV senior Brock Patchin,” said Ercan Aydogdu, executive director for CASLV. “Brock possesses the fighting spirit, work ethic, and passion for learning that Eric Lyons possessed while a student at CASLV. Brock has a bright future ahead and we wish him the best as he begins his collegiate career.”
Brock Patchin is a member of the 2020 graduating class at the CASLV Sandy Ridge campus. He will be attending the University of Nevada, Reno, where he plans to study computer science.
Created during the 2019-2020 academic school year, the Eric Lyons Memorial Scholarship was created by Lyons’ parents to honor their son who passed away in March of 2020. While attending school, Eric Lyons underwent numerous treatments and trials to treat a brain tumor that was discovered when he was in third grade. Even though Eric was fighting an extremely difficult battle, he never let his illness impact his love for learning, his friendships or his relationships with CASLV teachers
