PLEASE PUBLISH ON MONDAY, JUNE 22
Beginning July 1, 2020, local nonprofit Adam’s Place will be operating out of a new space at 1120 Shadow Lane near University Medical Center. The new location lowers overhead costs and provides more space for the support group meetings that help children, teens and families coping with loss. Adam’s Place also continues to provide virtual programs and resources for safe social-distancing needed during the pandemic. It also will be conducting Camp Cope programs in nine Clark County School District schools this fall.
Adam’s Place was able to move at this time through the donated services and manpower of Move 4 Less, a local family-owned moving company.
“We are so grateful to Move 4 Less for all their help to make our move a less stressful situation,” said Adam’s Place Founder Kelly Thomas Boyers. “This donation could not have come at a better time. We had not budgeted for a move; and like many others in our community, we are doing more with less. It takes other community stakeholders to help us help others.”
Adam’s Place new space has large meeting rooms for Camp Cope and allows for social distancing for participants and facilitators. Camp Cope also will be facilitating groups at other area community partners such as Grace Presbyterian Church this fall. Continued programming will include two virtual seminars this month targeting K-12 educators and counselors, who focus on the mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children and teens and how local schools can prepare to be strong support systems outside the home. Adam’s Place currently works with more than 300 youths every year. The nonprofit also provides quarterly workshops on healthy coping skills for adults, along with training for teachers, counselors, and social workers.
Move 4 Less’s General Sales Manger Eyrick Gibson said the company is aware of today’s economic realities many in the community are facing, and his team members wanted to do their part to assist those in need. “Helping Adam’s Place with a smooth move to its new location was an easy decision for us to make in extending special help to this great nonprofit because of what Kelly and her team do everyday for young people,” he said. “The invaluable services they provide can make a huge difference for kids struggling to cope with major loss in their lives.”
In addition to helping nonprofit organizations, Move 4 Less has created the Moving Our Community program that will provide moving services to four (4) local Las Vegas families who have to move from their current residence due to COVID-19-related circumstances. The moves will be at no cost to the families, and will be paid for personally by Move 4 Less owners at the company’s regular move rates.
Boyers said that Adam’s Place is appreciative of all donations and sponsorships, and all contributions stay in the community. Sponsors and supporters who make the nonprofit’s work possible include: Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas, Sierra Heating and Air Conditioning, Windermere Prestige Properties, Bank of Nevada, UNLV School of Medicine, Gaming Arts, National Youth Sports Nevada, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, Born and Raised, Hausbeck Brand, The Godfather, Brady Industries, and Move 4 Less.
