In support of teachers and parents during statewide school closures, Vegas PBS has provided nearly 12 million one-on-one interactions of the station’s curriculum-based programming and online instructional resources from March 23 to April 26, 2020. Resources include educational broadcasts every weekday for all grade levels, online streaming of PBS KIDS programs, curriculum-guide downloads paired to programming and visits to a dedicated website for free at-home learning resources found at vegaspbs.org/learn, among other services.
“In response to the novel coronavirus pandemic and the closing of Nevada’s schools, we acted immediately to provide students, caregivers and teachers the resources they’d need to continue learning outside the classroom,” said Vegas PBS General Manager Tom Axtell. “The educational services our donors allow us to provide our community are having a major educational impact. Achieving over 11 million educational interactions in one month and creating informational news programs for adults is our unique focus on serving Southern Nevadans through this difficult time.”
