Students in Need of Technology
According to the Public Education Foundation, as many as one-third of the 320,000 families In the Clark County School District (CCSD) lack access to computers, the internet or their teachers. The CCSD estimates that approximately 120,000 Chromebooks are needed for students participating in distance learning. Recently a Las Vegas-based software company, NS8, donated $10,000 to the CCSD Technology Fund and issued a call-to-action to other local tech companies to help if they can. In addition, the Silver State Schools Credit Union has committed $150,000 to assist CCSD in purchasing Chromebooks for students and the Distance Learning Task Force has raised nearly $600,000 for the CCSD Technology Fund.
