The PENTA Building Group Concludes Run of Four 2020 Safety Kick-Off Events Spanning Three States Across Southwest U.S.
Contractor closes 2020 safety tour addressing construction safety with more than 1,000 workers across California, Nevada and Arizona
Las Vegas, Nev. –Commercial contractor The PENTA Building Group (PENTA) has concluded its run of four safety events across the southwest U.S. Its 12th Annual Safety Kick-Off that took place in February aimed to ensure safety remains top-of-mind for those in the construction industry as well as its employees, subcontractors and partners.
Over the course of several weeks, PENTA addressed jobsite safety with more than 1,000 construction workers in various markets where it operates, including Glendale, California; San Bernardino, California; Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona.
“When trips, falls, shocks or other hazards can be a matter of life and death on a construction site, leaders in our industry have a major responsibility to instill a dynamic safety culture, so that all workers can return home safely after every work shift,” said John Cannito, President of The PENTA Building Group. “Safety is a vital life force for any organization. That’s why we welcome our industry peers and colleagues to join us at one of this year’s Safety Kick-Off events.”
Each event included expanded safety expos complete with industry vendors and safety equipment; the unveiling of PENTA’s 2020 safety campaign; an award ceremony honoring individuals and companies with exemplary dedication to safety; and renowned motivational speaker, author and U.S. tennis player Roger Crawford as keynote speaker. Despite his disadvantage of four impaired limbs, Crawford learned how to defeat able-bodied players and is an NCAA Division I Hall of Fame athlete.
Throughout its 20-year history, PENTA has maintained an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) significantly below the national average of 1.0. A staple component to PENTA’s annual safety campaign includes quarterly Safety Stand-Down events, where job sites temporarily halt all work to address and educate different aspects of safety, including preventing struck-by and caught in-between hazards, falls, electrical safety and the risks associated with sun exposure.
