Cox Communications has donated 5,000 protective shoe covers to UMC. A brief handoff took place Friday afternoon between Cox technicians and UMC staff while observing social distancing and crowd guidelines.
The donation is a result of an update to Coxās procedures last week and in response to the Vegas Chamberās call to its members for donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in support of Governor Sisolakās Covid-19 Response, Relief & Recovery Task Force.
āCox is a critical services provider and is working to support its customers and Southern Nevada community as effectively and safely as possible,ā said Cox Las Vegas Vice President and Market Leader Michael Bolognini. āWeāre proud to support the Governorās Covid-19 Response, Relief & Recovery Task Force and remain committed to providing a world-class network that enables us to connect to work, home, school, services, family and friends during this unprecedented time.ā
Cox Las Vegas has transitioned, temporarily, to providing technical support for its customers without entering the home. Cox technicians are performing outside work as usual, delivering necessary equipment to the front door and providing any needed assistance via video and voice messaging (FaceTime, etc.)
The donated protective shoe covers were no longer needed in the short term by Coxās field technicians.
āAs the world-class health care professionals at UMC deliver Nevadaās highest level of care amid this unprecedented public health crisis, our team continues to find strength in the compassion and generosity of our community,ā said UMC CEO Mason VanHouweling. āThank you to Cox Communications for supporting UMCās ongoing efforts to prepare for any potential future influx of patients.ā
Across the nation, PPE items in demand include disposable gowns, gloves, hand sanitizer, lab/clinical coats, medical safety googles/eye protection; N95 respirator masks, surgical masks, scrub caps and shoe covers.
