ONLINE CHARTER SCHOOLS CELEBRATE NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL WEEK
RENO, Nev. – Each morning, more than 2,000 Nevada students who attend online charter public schools prepare for their school day. They greet their fellow students, address the teacher when she calls roll and they say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Designated as National Public School Week February 24-28, this week online charter students, teachers and administrators are celebrating public school options.
“Student achievement through online schools is so much greater when you remove barriers for students who need a different learning environment, said Jay Schuler Nevada director of Public School Options. “Often times, students attending online charter schools have learning or physical disabilities, have been bullied, live in rural communities or have fallen behind and require more time to make-up the work than other students. Our organization advocates on behalf of Nevada families for public school options that best serve individual students’ learning needs and that’s cause for celebration during National Public School Week.”
Not all students learn the same way. As more and more families seek educational choice, it’s important that students have access to individualized attention and personalized approaches. Online charter schools offer students the tools for success through high-performance standards.
“Students attending online school often excel through personalized learning plans feeling more successful and engaged in their education,” said Schuler. “Creating opportunities for learning empowers students’ success for a bright future.”
National Public School Week is an opportunity to celebrate the successes of all schools, teachers and administrators who go above and beyond every day for students regardless of the location of their learning.
