Emersion Sports & Entertainment has partnered with Clark County School District (CCSD) to continue the Adopt-A-Country program for the ninth consecutive year in Las Vegas as part of the Major League Rugby (MLR) Vegas Weekend, Feb. 9, 15-16 at Sam Boyd Stadium. The schools participating in the international program, designed to integrate global citizenship, early physical education, ambassadorship and culture into the students’ curriculum, have “adopted” eight of the 12 competing teams in the MLR Vegas Weekend.
Through the Adopt-A-Country program, elementary, middle and high school students alike have the opportunity to become fully immersed in the cultures of 16 nations and eight U.S. cities as well as have world-class experience with the Olympics’ newest sport, Rugby.
On Saturday, February 8, select schools will also partake in a Youth Rugby Tournament located at Charlie Frias Park:

The program kicked off in November 2019 with the Adopt-A-Country Youth Rugby Clinic, followed by the School Fan T-Shirt Contest and Poster Contest where students participated in a contest to design a t-shirt incorporating their school’s assigned country or team. The first, second and third place winning designs will be printed onto t-shirts and distributed to participating schools. Students also participated in a Critical Thinking Essay Contest in which schools held an internal contest between students to answer a critical thinking essay prompt comparing a typical day for a student in CCSD to a typical day for a student from their adopted country. The essay winner from each school will represent their school and adopted country or team at the MLR Vegas Weekend matches on Sunday, Feb. 9, Saturday Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb.16. participants will help escort a competing team onto the field before their matches.

Tickets for the MLR Vegas Weekend are on sale now and can be purchased online at UNLV Tickets. Single day tickets for MLR Vegas Weekend start at $20 with multi-day packages starting at $35. Tickets for youth ages 4 – 14 are $10 for single day and start at $15 for multi-day packages. Children three and under are free.
