At 14 years of age I worked as a fish fryer at Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips. I was lucky enough to have met a life-long friend there.
Who in your life has been instrumental to your success?
I had quite a few teachers that were instrumental to my success. Specifically my seventh grade teacher, Tony King, who introduced me to the concept of attending university and Father Ronald Cullen in High School, who taught me to push myself.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Challenge yourself academically in order to open as many doors as possible upon graduation.
What is an issue currently facing your industry an outside observer might not be aware of?
One issue that we currently face is unlicensed, out-of-state business brokers, who give inflated business valuations to business owners in order to secure an up-front fee or a listing.
What is your motto?
Always try your hardest – no matter how hard, or easy, the task may be.
If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you have?
I would like to have pizza and beer with James Bond.
What was the toughest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
“It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.” There sometimes are details that come up at the last moment that can impact a potential transaction, even at the eleventh hour.
What is your favorite thing about living in Nevada?
My favorite thing about our state is the people; regular folks who love their city, their state and their country. They live here because they want to.
What three words would you want your worst enemy to use when describing you?
Competitive, determined and fair.
