The 12th Annual Bowl-A-Thon to reduce childhood hunger in Southern Nevada will be held Sunday, Mar. 29. Proceeds will benefit Serving Our Kids Foundation, which feeds and serves the weekend nutrition needs of several thousand homeless and at-risk children enrolled in the Clark County School District. There is a waiting list for the nonprofit organization’s weekend food bags.
“The Serving Our Kids Bowl-A-Thon is a fun way for families, friends and co-workers to help kids who fall through the traditional social services safety net from going hungry,” said Patricia Farley, chair of the Serving Our Kids board. “It only costs us $5.00 to feed a child on Saturday and Sunday. We can feed so many more kids with the community’s help and have a variety of ways for everyone to get involved, including team challenges, raffle prizes, sponsorships, and family, group, school and business teams.”
The Bowl-A-Thon will be held at the Sam’s Town Bowling Center, 5111 Boulder Highway. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with bowling from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Lane sponsorships are available for a $350 donation. Each one covers five bowlers for three games, shoe rental, lunch and beverage, and also receives a sponsor table, lane signage, logo on event banner, and inclusion in marketing efforts. Current sponsors include: Argentum and Friends of Dave Marlon, Diazo Wealth Group, Fred McMahon Agency- State Farm Insurance, Jeffrey Burr Attorneys, JFK Financial, Johnny Mac’s Restaurant, Grimaldi’s, Leverage, and Southwest Specialties Inc.
The cost for a single bowler is $25; three bowlers, $70; Family 4 Pack, $90; and team of five bowlers, $100. This pricing also includes three games, shoe rental, lunch and beverage.
Attendees also can purchase Red Apple Banks for $10 each, fill them with coins or dollar bills, and return them to Serving Our Kids or have them picked up.

The initiative makes it easy and affordable for individuals, families, businesses, organizations and clubs to participate with Serving Our Kids, and also to challenge their peers and competitors to get involved through a variety of new and existing programs.
About Serving Our Kids Foundation
Serving our Kids Foundation is dedicated to feeding and serving the needs of Clark County children. While there are governmental programs and other organizations that provide children in need with breakfast and lunch on weekdays during school, weekends can be an issue. Since 2012, Serving Our Kids has stepped in to fill the weekend nutrition gap of vulnerable kids and now assists 3,500 children, grades K-8, in 70 schools who would otherwise go hungry. Referrals for weekend food bags are up 27 percent over last year, but the actual number of kids needing weekend nutrition assistance is estimated between 8,000 to 10,000. The nonprofit organization mobilizes the strength of community volunteers and donations. In addition to non-perishable food items, personal care items also are collected. For information, donations, volunteering and partnership opportunities, visit https://www.servingourkids.org or call 702-358-1056.
